Writing to get published by Sigalit Cassuto

I need to write a poem,
But I am full of boredom,
Every minute passes by,
Even though I try.

I can not think of anything to write,
So I don’t feel too bright,
Guy Stewart says there is no such thing as writer’s block,
But every minute passes by as I watch the clock.

I’ve been revising my novel,
Right now it’s quite awful,
But I will never give up,
Because now I am grown up.

I used to be blinded,
Now I am high minded,
Even if publishers reject me,

There is always someone out there, who will accept me.

SOME THINGS I LEARNED THIS WEEK

I learned that when you write, do not waste the reader's time by explaining something in too much, unnecessary detail, so that something that should be explained in a minute is explained in ten minutes. You do not want to lose the reader's trust this way. -- Darrel Zhao

I learned that you have to revise, because nothing is ever perfect on the first try. -- Sammi Lenertz

Something I’ve learned is, that in fantasy you can’t just make it up. You need to set up your own government. Make new type of people. Recreate democracy. I also learned that my favorite authors got rejected a bunch of times. I just can’t believe such good books were rejected!  -- by Sigalit Cassuto

I learned how to properly write journalism. -- Lauren Scherer

The pink glass stone by Sigalit Cassuo

In a land far away,
Lived a man and his dear fiance’,
It was a very rich village,
They were quite privilege.

One day the man went hunting,
And as he was humming,
He ran into a cave,
Inside was a woman, who appeared very brave,
She had long silky brown hair,
She seemed quite fair,
So pale,
She made you exhale.

She seemed to be dreaming,
The man leaned down towards her,
And in the dark she was gleaming.

The man jumped up,
As she woke up,
He held her gaze just for a moment,
And the man seemed to be frozen,
Locked in the trance of her deep green eyes,
He knew what he was about to do, would no be wise.

Before he could make a decision,
The woman spoke up, and he listened,
My husband has a heart made of paper thin copper,
The man couldn’t stop her,
As she screamed,
As if she woke up from another dream.

The man said, madam are you alright?
The woman answered, no,
My husband is practically dead,
He will never forgive, for the sin I have done,
Was such a horrible one.

I let him have a heart made of paper thin copper,
And no love is left in his heart,
It’s like he threw in my a heart, dart.

The man listened carefully,
Sitting down gracefully,
But all of a sudden he tripped,
A there was something his hand had gripped.

It was a pink glass stone,
Lots of light it had shone,
What do you think it is? Asked the man.

But the woman was already jumping in excitement,
The man saw the woman’s face brighten,
The woman said, this is the stone of my dreams,
As tears came down the woman’s face in streams,
This will cure my husband, she said,
And with that she left the cave without dread.

The man had no idea what just happened,
And he suddenly found himself napping,
For he had entered the cave of dreams,
And won’t be woken up till his true love comes,

By all means.

The man with the heart of paper thin copper by Sigalit Cassuto

A man and his wife very poor, lived in a village,
The man took out milk to drink, and there was a huge spillage,
He could feel his heart speeding very fast, and knew something was wrong
His wife hurried with her husband to the doctor
And expressed her sorrow in a song.

She stopped singing the song,
When the doctor came up to her,
And gave her her news she didn’t long,
He said this man has a heart problem,
The only way to fix it, is to make a heart of thin copper

The wife cried out in pain,
Where am I  supposed to find copper?
But the doctor couldn’t stop her.
As she ran out of the room,
Knowing there was only doom.

All of a sudden,
An old man walked up to the doctor,
He said he knew these problems,
And he knows how to solve them.

He said, I have a heart made of paper thin copper,
And I’ll give it to the lady who jumps like a grasshopper.
I’ve lived long enough,
Now it’s time to pass it to a young man more tough.

The wife couldn’t bear to hear this,
Won’t the old man’s life he’ll miss?
The doctor said okay fine,
It’s better than a heart made of grime.

The doctor did his surgery,
The wife was pacing frantically,
The doctor finished,
And the woman listened,
He said everything went okay,
But your husband has a small price to pay.

The woman asked, what do you mean?
The doctor answered,
No love is left in his heart, only paper thin copper.
And the woman jumped back like a grasshopper.

The woman asked the doctor,
So how will he live?
The doctor answered,
Please, madam forgive,
He will have to live alone forever,
Far away from his family and friends together.

This time the woman gave a horrific scream,
And ran out of the hospital ad fast as she could,
Only to find she would live in a cave, forever in a dream.

From that day on, the husband lived,
Living a lonely life he would never forgive.
The wife had finished to scream,

But only to lay in the cave forever in a dream.
